Sin City here I come!

I can't believe it's already time to head to Las Vegas for the Project Show. I happen to book my ticket on the same flight as the Twnz! How crazy is that? Great minds think alike =). Here we are on our way to Sin City.

My East Coast sales team-Twnz Showroom!
You guys rock!  I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE these ladies!
I managed to get a seat next to my girls! I've been so busy preparing for the shows, I can't believe it's been so long since I stopped by the showroom. We chatted the entire way there. It was so nice swapping stories and joking around w/you guys! It's been too too long! Always great catching up with you ladies!

Joey- I'm so happy to hear you are back, and better than ever =). I'm in anytime you need a wing woman =)! I got you luv!
A few hours later, we landed in LV !  No time to rest, we checked in and went straight to the convention center to help our West Coast team set up for the show.  Surprisingly, we weren't tired.

Here I am steaming away and merchandising my collection.
Awww, my girls are the best!  All smiles and good energy flowing!  So excited to see you Ms. Mila!

After setting up, I rushed to Janet's room to get ready.  I was starving! I had to dip into her stash of goodies.  Uh, is this your secret diet Miss J?
I wanted to dress casual for the night. Here I am sporting my favorite jeans-ANLO! The fit is amaaazing! I can't believe I'm going out tonight after setting up.  I'm taking it for the team ladies! Don't say I'm not a trooper!

Janet, my crazy geisha sister from another mister. We've been the best of friends for over 15yrs...WOW!  She's still crazy as always.  We have such a crazy history together.  Love you girl! Check out her fabulous knit wear line JAE BASILIO!

Yaaaay, our 2 bestfriends from LA flew in to hang with us in Vegas! Here's Jen spinning away.....
awww, my best buds- Northern Cali girls in tha house.... my Viet sisters for life!

Time to call it a night ladies.  I have a busy day tomorrow!

It was a loooong day, but I had such a fabulous time! It started with a fun plane ride to LV playing catch up & lots of girl talk, and then hanging with my best friends.  The week is already starting off to a wonderful start!  2 1/2 more days of vegas to go! whoooohoooo!

Colette gets a facelift!

Whenever I'm in Paris, I always stop my favorite shop there, COLETTE. I could spend hours in this shop. Recently, it was given a new facelift from Masamichi Katayama, founder of the architect firm Wonderwall

The new space has a lot of lighting with a gallery sleek feel.
Check it out....

Colette always carries the latest "it" brands.  Their buyers are always on top of their game!
Guys heart shoes too!
Awww.....I LOVE the gallery vibe to this space!
I LOVE how clean and sleek this space looks!
They have a cool cafe downstairs when you need a break to get some grub!
Cool beauty products selection.....
Take a break and listen to their eclectic selection of music!

All grown up....

10 Deep just released their Fall 2008 look book, and guess who was modeling in it?!!! ISI! Yup, my first employee! Isi began as an intern for me years ago when I first started YUMI KIM. He's been with me since the days when we were working out of my TINY 300 sq ft apt. Wow, boy does time fly and things change so quickly.

Check him out in 10 Deep's Fall 08 look book....

10Deep is not just another streetwear t-shirt brand. I've seen a lot of their cut & sew pieces and I have to say, I'm very impressed. I LOVE it when designers pay attention to details and add their own twist to a simple item like a button down flannel shirt (you can't see the details in the pix, but up close their stuff always has the coolest details!) or add a special twist to an item as basic as a bomber jacket-check out Isi's jacket!

Look at him now, all grown up, still working with me, now adding modeling to his resume =), and soon to debut his own women's collection.

Business Tip of the week: Always support your friends and family with their dreams! Without their endless support, I know my dream never would have come true.

Awwwww, my intern is now all grown up!
Thanks, Isi, I'm so PROUD of you!

On the road again....

It's time to go on the road again!  With all the traveling I do throughout the year, I always pack the following things to keep me comfortable on the plane.

Here are my travel essentials!

LOVE this lip treatment SUGAR by Fresh.  It tastes so yummmmy!
I always bring a big cozy sweater for the plane.  Keeps me warm when the AC is on blast! LOVE this sweater by Roberto Cavalli...so cute!
ooooh, SHU UEMURA Depsea Water facial mist. This spray always makes me feel refreshed!  A couple spritzes on your face and it makes you feel revived!
I always bring a good book to read.  I picked up this book the other day.  Thanks, Vito, for the recommendation =)!
Oooh, butter to my feet! Love...Love...Love my Ugg Boots!

Awwww, I think the travel bug has hit me again! Be on the look out for all the cool trips I have coming up. I can't wait!!!

WEEKLY OBSESSION: INTERIOR DECORATING

This week I'm obsessing over interior decorating! I have a few interior design projects that I'm working on currently, and they all have a different look.

I want to spice up my apt a bit, which right now has a minimal modern chic vibe.  I'm also trying to find the right accessories to add to my booth at Coterie. In addition,  I have a few other projects I have in the works-which will be revealed shortly =). That's why I've been spending so much time vintage shopping, hanging out at book stores, and scouring the flea markets the past 2wks.  Check out all the cool ideas I want to incorporate!

I'm all about wallpaper! Easy way to spice up a room!

I LOVE adding a splash of color to a room using prints!

Oooh, always have flowers in your house!
Cherry blossoms are so beautiful!

I LOVE adding beautiful black and white photos to my walls!
Such a lovely photo!

Vintage rugs have so much character!

Modern chic vibe...this might work for my apt =).

I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE looking at interior design magazines.  Such nice eye candy! So many great ideas, so little time!

2 days till Project Las Vegas...

I spent Saturday working...working....working! No time to enjoy the last days of Summer =(. Since I can't lounge in the park or hang with my friends this weekend, here I am trying to enjoy wearing my favorite dress from Spring/Summer 08 Collection- The Sophie Dress-Love how this dress fits on me!  LOVE the print too!  This is the first time I played with using GREY as the background color.  It turned out really cool.  I'm proud of this color combination =).

I spent Saturday morning at the flea market shopping for furniture.  It's soooo much cheaper to go here than to the cute vintage shops around town.  It's pretty much a fraction of the price!  I found some cool goodies, and also a ton of bags & belts.  I guess last week's obsession sort of carried over....ooooops!

Met up with Rico for dinner in the East Village.  Somehow, on my way home from dinner, one of my sandals BROKE! Oh my goodness...Urggghhhh!  I was so annoyed because in NYC we walk everywhere.  It would be silly for me to ask a cab driver to drop me 3 blocks away.  So I sucked it up, and walked barefoot 2 blocks to Rico's apt to borrow a pair of flip flops.

While sitting on his stoop, guess who I ran into?  My landlord!  He happens to live in the building next door...ha! That's NYC for you...small small world!

This is what happens when you buy cheap sandals! Thank goodness I wasn't on a date...ha!
On my way home, I saw this lady chillin by her car....what a sight right? OG Mama!

Finally made it home to clean and pack for Vegas.  Urghhh, I have so much to do!

Showing Rico some of my new vintage dresses and getting his input on how I should alter them.

I found a cute 80's cocktail dress at the flea market.  Here I am chopping off a few layers of ruffles. I think it's way too long for me right now.  Gotta spice it up a bit =).

As a designer, I always LOVE being around other creative people because they're always so inspiring!

Business Tip of the week: It's important to surround yourself with creative people because you get a fresh set of eyes to give you input or constructive criticism on your work.  You might not always agree with them, but it's good to hear what they have to say so you can see things from a different point of view =).

Rico, who's also a designer, is showing me ways to recycle all the fabric I just chopped off. Hmmm, I'm not sure if I agree with Rico on this one.....LOL!

Check out the dress I found this afternoon and what I transformed it into. So cute! Looking forward to rockin it!

Playing dress up got us all tired & hungry.  I was craving some yogurt!  Check out my new favorite frozen yogurt spot- 16 Handles! WOW- so many options!  I'm in yogurt heaven =).

Whew, loooong day.  I'm exhausted and still have so much packing to do!  I can't believe the show is just a few days away. WOW!

Busy Bees!

I can't believe Friday came and went by so fast. I spent the day with Rachel running around downtown trying to check off the 50 million things on my THINGS TO DO list. We were busy busy bees!!! Thank goodness the weather was so nice. It made running around less of a pain.

Here I am sporting a cute YUMI KIM Spring/Summer 08 dress. I'm trying to wear as many summer dresses before it's time to pack them away =(. LOVE the lace & pleated details!

We checked out so many cool vintage shops Downtown.

Look at what we found.....
Oh my goodness! The glasses the NERDS were wearing in 16 CANDLES! I found my Halloween costume this year! Yaaaaay! I'm going to dress up as one of their girlfriends! The cool part is that it can also be used as a headband once Halloween is over=)!
ooooh, we stumbled onto a cool vintage button shop!
W0w, these were from the 1800's!
So pretty, but totally out of my budget =(.

After a loooong day of vintage furniture shopping I ran down to a Bday party @ Calvin's shop. I LOVE birthdays! Look at the yummy cupcakes! Yikes, I'm suppose to be detoxing! OH NO!!! No more cheat days!

In true Calvin Tran style- never a dull moment with my crazy friend.
Silly....silly...silly!

Look at the cute birthday party favors!  The BDAY girl's initials were bling blinging on the front of the visors...how cute!
Us rockin some head gear!
Bday girl and friends.....

Oh no, someone called the police? hhahahhaha...only you Calvin!

I'm so glad I came out =)! I needed a mini break before the Project Show next week. Fun night guys!
